What is Google Chrome Browser Cache

Cache means store something for future use. In this context, images, scripts and other useful data will be kept in the Chrome cache.

Next time when you visit the same page or website, if the same images were found in the cache, it will not be redownloaded again.

It will display the images that already in your Chrome cache.

For example, the website logo will usually no change, so you may save 34kb of data as it will reuse the image that already inside the cache.

It will also download faster as it read from you local PC instead of from network.

Is Caching Cause Issues to Chrome Browser

The answer is yes. Although caching has many benefits, but it may also cause problems.

For example, you visited a website and encountered an error that caused the page was not display correctly.

This case, the error could also be cached to your Chrome browser.

The next visit, Chrome browser will try to display the website from the data available in the cache.

This may includes the past errors. We must clear the cache in order for the website to display the page correctly.

Step to Clear Cache

  1. Launch Chrome browser and tap on the there little dots on the top right corner of the browser.

2. Tap Settings

  1. Tap on Privacy and security
  1. Then tap on Clear browsing data. This will clear history, cookies, site data, cache…

  1. Tap on Basic.
  2. Select the time range you want to delete the cache.
  3. Make sure that you only delete what you want to delete. You can uncheck for example browsing history, but not cache.
  4. Tap on Clear data.
  1. Tap on Clear.
  1. This and onwards steps are optional. Tap on a little square logo on bottom right.
  1. You can see of active application and tap on X to kill Chrome.
